Title: Seasonal Produce.
Outtake - Downtown Market Grand Rapids.

Title: Kidding Around.
Wanted to share my favorite image from Opening Day at the Downtown Market. Assignment: Grand Rapids Downtown Alliance.
So many people came out, shopped, and took in the new surroundings of the Downtown Market in the South Arena District of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Of course, the inner street photographer in me was not only ready for action, but jumping for joy!
One image/person stuck out… almost as if she was floating on air and calling attention to my eyes. This one person is the little girl in the photo above. The very first thing I noticed was the bright red balloon animal in her hand and the perspective that she had in the crowd from her dad’s shoulders. The second thing I noticed was how both her and her father had the exact same facial expressions. You can see the resemblance in their eyes, noses, and even the way they are looking at what is in front of them. Last and not least, I noticed the lines above the crowd and how they forced my eyes into the frame - it was after taking all of these 3 visual cues that I knew the photo HAD to be taken.
Of course, many amazing images were made… but to me this one is the Money Shot!
Title: Caught My Eye.
Outtake from the Gazelle Girl Half Marathon in Grand Rapids, Michigan. While it was a spring race…. race day was visited by rain, hail, and of course snow! Pure Michigan.
Of course, no matter the weather conditions there is ALWAYS time for a bit of street photography.
Title: A Stable Relationship.
Sharp, colorful and tells the story. One of my favorite performance shots from Cirque Mechanics / Grand Rapids Symphony.
Title: Center of House.
Another fisheye shot from my Canon EOS 5D Mark III with the EF 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye lens. I really like the perspective that this one gives, not only just on the stage and performers - but also the audience watching the performance.
Fisheye view of Cirque Mechanics at the Grand Rapids Symphony. I just love this perspective of the stage and the fisheye really brings not only the stage, but the audience into the big picture… had to share.
Image shot with a Canon EOS 5D Mark III and EF 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye lens.
Title: Pouring It On.
One of my favorite shots from a recent city profile done on J. Gardella’s Tavern, located in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan.
I owe a lot to knowing my settings, timing, light via an off camera flash, and good karma from the camera karma Gods… as this one came out on the first try!
Title: Ellen Lenhart.
Portrait of J. Gardella’s Tavern’s own Ellen Lenhart. Profile shot for the Grand Rapids Downtown Alliance. Shot with a Canon EOS 5D Mark III, EF 24-70mm f/2.8L, and off-camera flash via a 580 EX II Speedlite.
Title: Blowing One’s Horn.
I’ve been really into my portraits being to either a far left or far right of the composition… if I had to guess why I’d say it’s probably due to the amount of portraits I’ve done lately for design/print/ad publications.
Having said that… I kinda like how it looks.
